The Dining Room

My dining room is plain and white.

And I'm feeling like I need to do something in there.

Because I'm not a plain, white person.
Well, that's not true... I am a white person. So very, very, white. Almost translucent, really. But that's neither here nor there.

It all started a few months back when I was flipping through a Pottery Barn catalog and had a reaction to a paint color that I've never had before. I LOVE THIS BLUE. I don't know why but I just love it. It feels cozy and relaxing and I just love it.

I did an embarassing amount of research and learned that this blue is called Newburyport Blue and it is by Benjamin Moore. I must have it. I'm imagining my blue walls with framed family photos covering the walls.

Then I saw these copper trays in a Southern Living catalog and I went ahead and bought them because I thought they would look so pretty hanging on my blue wall...

As for the chairs, I think I might recover them in something similar to what is seen here below? Not exactly that but that's kinda the feel I'm going for...

What do y'all think?

  1. I fell in love with that very same wall. Love AT FIRST SIGHT, it was. I don't know that I have a room that is appropriate for the "denim" look. I think maybe that's why I chose the teal on the go boldly dark. The chairs are a little busy for me. I'm a simple girl, but I know that whatever you do will look great! Love you.

  2. Gorgeous!! Good Luck on your project.

  3. yes, i'm now in love with it too!

you might already know all this (and i think they still do it) but if you go to PB they will give you a free sample of the paint chips featured in the most recent magazine.

for $5 you can buy a "big chip" of a specific color that you can hang up on your wall and it is big enough to make sure you love how it looks on your wall in real life (similar to painting a swatch but without having to paint a swatch).

finally, as a fellow obsessed with certain pb benjamin moore colors i discovered that sherwin-williams already has the formulas for many of these same colors and other places can mix them to match your swatch for much cheaper than benjamin moore.

sorry for the novel, but hope some part of it is helpful:)

  4. Ooh I love that so much I may need to paint something in my house that color.

  5. Love love love it!! I want blue in my house!!!

  6. ooooh, i'm all over the blog today. did you paint? anyone will mix anyone's colors, i'm told.
