Sometimes Facebook is a Liar

Hi.

Hello.

Go ahead and sit down. We need to talk. You're not going to like what I have to say, but you need to hear it.

Sometimes Facebook lies to you. And you believe the Facebook.  You believe it. Because you're good hearted and you're an optimist. Believe me, I'm an optimist too. I'm a glass is half-full kind of gal. But I need to tell you about a little trick Facebook is playing on some of us and some of us believe it and I'm here to break it to you: FACEBOOK LIES.

Well, let's rephrase. Facebook itself, the corporation, isn't the one telling these lies. It's Facebook users. It's the Facebook community who lies and we are sweet and gullible little things who click and share. But I'm here to help out my fellow Facebooker. Don't let these lies happen to you!!

There are 2 big lies on Facebook right now:

LIE #1: Random Celebrity Was Seen in Your Town And/ Or Hit Movie Sequel is Going to Be Filmed in a Town Near You

This is what they call click-bait, my friends. You read a headline, you get all excited, you share it with your friends, they click it, they get all excited, they share it with their friends.

NO.

Look at the website. Looks like it was posted by some random local news station, right? Google that news station. IT DOESN'T EXIST.

The cast of Harry Potter was not in your city eating at a restaurant.

They aren't filming The Notebook 3 or the next Father of the Bride movie in your college town.

Star Wars IS NOT FILMING ITS NEXT MOVIE DOWN THE STREET FROM YOU.

There's a Tom Hanks one that's also been circulating lately. Also not true. NOT. TRUE. The best tip I can possibly give you is to look at the source. If it's from Entertainment Weekly or People magazine or something - hooray. If it's from "Local 23 News Channel Station Entertaiment Site Now"or something like then it's probably NOT REAL.

Lie #2: THE COPY AND PASTE RIDICULOUSNESS

Friends. Friends. FRIENDS.

Look into my eyes. Listen very carefully.

You will never ever accomplish any kind of anything by copying and pasting something into your status.

Facebook is not going to start charging you, ever. And they certainly aren't going to not charge you just because you copied and pasted something into your status.

Remember when Michael Scott "declared bankruptcy" on The Office?

That's essentially what is happening when you copy and paste something into your status. IT WILL NEVER ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING, EVER.

You will not win a prize.

It will not prevent Facebook from "owning" your images and using them without your consent.

You will not win money.

It will not earn you a trip to Disney World.

It is a hoax. It is not real.

It's okay. We're all gonna be okay.

Thank you.

Let's Talk About Jack

Y'all. I'm in for it with this kid.

He's barely 7 months old. He's active. He's busy. Even when buckled into something, I often find him almost wriggled free.

Just yesterday he started scooting on his belly. He scoots right over to whatever dangerous thing he wants to put in his mouth. This afternoon I walked past him playing with toys on the living room floor. I walked past him, went to my master bedroom, plugged my phone in, and when I walked back into the living room he was over by the fireplace with both hands on the hearth, about to hit his chin.

GOOD TIMES.

He loves his sister. He cracks up at her. He loves the dog, who could care less about him. He smiles the instant he sees his daddy.

He eats fruits and vegetables like a champ. He tries to eat Ellie's food if it's within his reach. He's had a bad cough for 85% of his life. It's infuriating.

He doesn't like having his diaper changed. He loves the bath. He recently has decided that he likes the pool.

He "talks" to Ellie in the car. He also "talks" when he's fighting sleep.

He goes to sleep just fine - but he doesn't nap for nearly as long as Ellie used to nap. Ellie used to nap for 3 hours. It was glorious. Jack seems to have an internal clock that ends his nap time after about an hour.

He doesn't really like to be put down. If he's going to placed onto the floor for some play time, he'd very much like for you to be on the floor with him, please and thank you.

He also has followed in his sister's footsteps in that he hates hates hates stoplights. Any time the car comes to a stop it's pretty much out of line, in his opinion.

This last week I was determined to really take advantage of all Summer had to offer. I decided to not let my little girl sit at home and watch TV all week. We were gonna hit the road, go on playdates, swim at pools, go on adventures, be outside and go to some of the free attractions around town.

WELL.

After toting around a feisty girl, a teething baby who has lots of needs, sweating, fighting the rain, fighting nap time schedules, fighting feeding schedules, spit up, loading and unloading a stroller multiple times a day,  and holding a baby in a pool and then having your daughter declare that she needs to go potty right now and it's an emergency and you have nowhere to put the baby... I've just decided that this week we will stay home and watch TV. That was entirely too much effort.

Cause really there's nothing more fun than being in a swim suit, sopping wet, holding a slippery wet baby who's angry, and trying to help a child also in a wet swim suit wipe herself while trying not to drop the wet baby.

Happy Summer, everyone!

Today was Crazy

5:15am. Jack's crying. I go upstairs, silently and without eye contact change his diaper while he is still in his crib and giggling. Give him his pacifier and get the heck out of dodge.

7:00am. Ellie appears next to my bed. She wants to know what we are doing today. She wants to know if a friend can come over. I tell her she's going to school today. She would like to know what her teachers have planned for her school day. I tell her I don't know. She suggests that I check my phone. I pull her into the bed where she lays in between me and Grant and asks questions. I randomly say "yes" or "no" but I'm not really paying attention.

7:15am. Jack is awake and ready to eat. I make a bottle, walk upstairs, get the boy, come back down to the couch and feed the hungry kid. Ellie sits on my lap at the same time and lists all the shows she would like to watch and in what order.

7:20am. Make breakfast. By "make breakfast" I mean pop an Eggo waffle into the toaster and serve that with a banana and a cup of milk. Voila.  Turn on PBS Kids (hooray for Curious George and Daniel Tiger!) and put Jack in his exersaucer.

7:45am. Put on some clothing and a minimal amount of makeup.

8:05am. Pack Ellie's lunch.

8:15am. Gather clothing for the kids. Dress them. Brush teeth, brush hair. (Just Ellie, not Jack.) (He only has 3 teeth, ya know?)

8:40am. Leave to take Ellie to school.

9:05am. Return home. Put Jack in his crib to finish the morning nap he started in the car. Get to desk, start working on Stella & Dot. Set up shows, email back responses to customer questions, make lists and order more samples.

9:30am. Finally surrender to the fact that Jack isn't sleeping anymore, but playing and bouncing in his crib. Go upstairs and get him and put him in a bouncy seat in my office. WORK for two full hours. Pay bills.

10:00am. Feed Jack a bottle. Talk on the phone during that process.

10:30am. Play with Jack because he's so dang cute.

11:00am. Prepare packages for post office run that needs to happen at some point today.

11:30am. Pay bills.

12:45pm. Drive to post office. Mail off all the fun things. (Lookbooks, earrings for giveaway winners)

1:30pm. Sit in car while Jack sleeps and text with other sweet Stella stylists - answer questions. Ask questions. Post in some of my Facebook trunk shows.

2:00pm. Get a Diet Coke from Wendy's for the love.

2:20pm. Pick up Ellie from school. She gets in the car with a giant book that encompasses her entire school year. The book has artwork from the whole year as well as self-portraits and photographs of her and her friends with all the activities they did all year.

This is actually a family portrait. That's Jack at the top. Then me, Ellie (see her curly hair?) and Grant on the right.

2:23pm. See Ellie's end of the year progress report.

2:24pm. See that Ellie's sweet teachers wrote "Ellie is every teacher's dream. She's enthusiastic, flexible, and always cheerful. It's been a joy to have her in our class."

2:25pm. Weep like a baby.

3:00pm. Get home and play with Ellie and Jack and cry because they're getting so big. Give Ellie a snack. Turn on Nick Jr. and breathe for a few minutes.

3:45pm. Feed Jack a bottle.

4:45pm. Leave for the dance studio to buy more tickets for Ellie's recital. Get there and realize the line is approximately forever long. Stand there holding the giant 6 month old baby and wrangling the needy, hungry, tired little girl who doesn't understand appropriate line waiting behavior. Needing to go potty right before it's your turn is not okay. Stand there for an hour, buy tickets, leave - dripping with sweat because that was a whole lotta work. Arm workout accomplished.

6:00pm. Get home from dance studio. Realize that the baby is asleep and you're leaving for dinner with your Bible study group in 20 minutes. Sit in the car with the kids so Jack can sleep. Let Ellie climb around like a hooligan.

6:15pm. Grant sits in the car with the kids so you can go inside and freshen up and get some food to bring to the restaurant for Jack.

6:30pm. Get to Smashburger cause kids eat free on Tuesdays. Visit with our Bible study friends. Jack eats pears and gets sleepy. Ellie has crossed over from sleepiness to delirious hyperactivity. She sits with a friend of ours who lets her watch hype videos of the new water park. Ellie loses her mind with anxious anticipation.

7:50pm. Get home. Change Jack's clothes and feed him a bottle and put that boy in the bed. Daddy takes care of Ellie's bed time.

8:30pm. Come downstairs and write this never ending blog.

8:52pm. Shut it down and sit on the couch and watch television and that's the end of that.

She's Aliiiiiive

Okay, so it's been awhile. Sorry about that. April and May have been crazy so far, but in the best possible way. We've been having fun and hitting milestones and my Stella & Dot business has taken off and then some. I have NINE trunk shows in May and I am having so much fun!  We've had sweet time with our kids, Grant's parents came into town for a fun visit, and Jack has been growing like a weed.

Ellie loves to snuggle with him. She always wants him to sit and watch movies with her. She gets irritated that it lasts all of 90 seconds :)

Speaking of that Ellie girl.... we got her Spring pictures from school and I legit started to tear up.

She's grown and changed so much this year. She's so much fun and she says THE FUNNIEST THINGS and she has a million questions but she's learning and it's a privilege to watch her grow.

Yesterday she hollered from upstairs, "MOMMMMYYYY!!!! MOMMY!! HEY! DO YOU WANNA COME UPSTAIRS AND SMELL MY FEET REAL QUICK?!?!?!"

NO THANKS I'M GOOD.

We've hit a major milestone over here in that Jack can now sit up in a grocery cart, GOD BLESS AMERICA. He's pretty happy about it too. Grocery shopping has been a challenge these last few months but I think it's gonna get a little easier now that these two sweet potatoes are sitting up and we aren't taking up an entire grocery cart with that giant carrier.

The other night, Grant ran outside and brought this ENORMOUS frog to the window. Ellie was intrigued but very much wanted that frog to stay outside. Mama did too.

We also have bunny rabbits in our backyard and we recently had a turtle in our driveway so basically I'm like Snow White and all the woodland forest creatures flock to me.

I am very snow white and could desperately use a tan but that hasn't happened in over 30 year so I don't think it's gonna start now.

A few weeks ago, my BFF Lindsee graciously hosted my first in-home (I do some Facebook shows too) Stella & Dot trunk show. It was SO much fun. I mean I know I'm technically working but it's also a girls night. A girls night I get paid for. WIN WIN.

And yesterday we took this chunk to his 6 month check up BECAUSE SOMEHOW HE IS 6 MONTHS OLD NOW. HOW?!?!? He is doing great and he's a big boy and he sleeps well and eats well and he's gonna be crawling soon, I can tell. He's much more physical than his sister was so I am buckling my seat belt.

I just got back from a Mother's Day Tea at Ellie's school this morning. We had french toast and fruit and muffins and tea and coffee and our littles gave us a sweet card and another little handmade gift. I'm so thankful to be the Mommy of this little love bug. She's nothing but joy.

Well, nothing but joy and questions.
