Further Proof That My People are Awesome

A little over a week ago, I wrote a blog post about my addiction to coffee mugs.

It felt really good to admit that I have a problem. Many of you reached out to me to let me know that you had similar addictions. Addictions to books, journals, sunglasses, drinking glasses.... I was encouraged by your various "Me too!" comments. So, thank you for that. Solidarity, people.

Anyways, yesterday was a fantastic day. First of all, I was at my parents' house and my dad said "we have something for you."

Remember in my blog how I talked about how I'm always tempted to buy the Today Show mug? Or the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon mug?

WELL.

LOOK WHAT I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION.

My sweet Dad, who reads this little ol' blog, (HI, DAD!) said he read that paragraph and immediately clicked over to the NBC website and made himself a little purchase for his youngest daughter. I should've known... that's so very him. When they handed them to me yesterday I squealed and clapped my hands. Cause I'm WEIRD and I get very excited about coffee mugs.

And you know what else happened yesterday? Me and my Lindsee went out to dinner to celebrate my 30th birthday. And that by itself is a present enough, but then she paid for my dinner (we went to Max's Wine Dive) (GLORY, GLORY, HALLELUJAH) and she also presented me with two gifts.

1. A gift card for a massage. (She spoils me y'all.)

2. This mug from World Market:

Please note that this mug was also mentioned in my previous blog.

MY PEOPLE. THEY ARE GOOD TO ME.

So now I'm going to have a wonderful time this week having my morning coffee in my new happy little mugs.

IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT WEEK!

So I've Got Some Issues...

I've been going to bed way too late. However, I'm still on a great schedule of waking up early, and I even run several mornings a week, so the whole midnight-bedtime situation isn't really the best practice. I am Mrs. Sleepyhead the rest of the day. So, last night I was all determined to get to bed at a decent hour. 10:30pm, to be exact. Still late for some people, but it was hours earlier than usual for me. And I did it. I was in bed at 10:30pm. And I fell asleep quickly. And I was so pleased with myself. "I'm gonna have so much energy tomorrow! I'm gonna get up and run and have a good morning and I will only have one cup of coffee and I will be full of energy!" (Insert sound of buzzer here.) WRONG.

A few months ago, I started having weird stomach cramps that would wake me up around 2am. I am in moderate pain for a few hours (I'm not in agony, but I definitely can't sleep.) It happened several nights a week for a few months. I finally saw a doctor who ordered an ultrasound to see if I had gallstones. I do not. He assumes I am dealing with a stomach ulcer. Good times. However, I haven't had an episode in several weeks. I thought maybe I was in the clear. (Insert sound of buzzer here.) WRONG.

Two in the morning. On the dot. I was up. And I was hurting. However, knowing the drill on these little episodes, I didn't thrash around for the first hour. I do the following:

1. Get out of bed and pace
2. Take Pepto Bismol
3. Take Aleve
4. Drink water
5. Go back and think through what I ate today to see if there was anything new or different. (There never is)
6. Start with the Googling. Google terms: "Stomach Cramps at 2am" "Gallbladder attack" "Gallstones" "Stomach cancer" "Stomach cancer symptoms" "Can Tums help with cramps" "Stomach tumors" "Gas pain" "How much Pepto Bismol is safe to take" "I'm dying"
7. Start with the Yoga. (To clarify: I'm not really a yoga person. But, a few months ago during one of my episodes, I did some Googling and learned there are some yoga poses that relieve stomach pain. So I do those poses. I'm sure I'm doing them incorrectly as I am not very flexible and have no yoga experience whatsoever.)
8. Get on the living room floor and rock back and forth. (Side note: I usually do this with a blanket over me because I find the living room floor to be quite cold.)
9. Get on the couch and play Sudoku or Bejeweled on my iPad.
10. Rock on the floor some more.
11. More Pepto
12. Get back in bed, turn the heating pad on the highest setting and put it on my stomach and fall asleep.

When all is said and done, I am awake from about 2am-5am. The pain always eventually subsides after a few hours and I have no after effects the next day except for being extraordinarily tired.

This is a girl who overslept and didn't get any of her morning tasks accomplished.

And that was my 2nd cup of coffee.

Anyways, I feel absolutely fine right now. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again tonight. To be honest, I could go to another doctor, but I've been to about 4 different doctors for a variety of issues in the last 30 days and I'm just over it.

Other than that, we had a wonderful day. I introduced Ellie to Play-Doh and I'm so glad I did. Kept her entertained for an hour. And then after her nap, she asked for it again. She played for another hour! Glory!

And tonight I made this:

That, my friends, is Spicy Parmesan Shrimp Pasta. I found it on the Pinterest.

It. Was. Delicious. I'm not a big shrimp eater, but my Cajun husband is. He likes the spicy and the shrimp. I like the parmesan and the pasta. Because gluten is my love language. Highly recommend this recipe! And hey, are you following me on Pinterest? You should! I've been on a big pinning kick lately. Mostly food. My favorite part of Pinterest is the food.

The kitchen is clean, the toddler is asleep in bed, my tummy is not hurting and I'm going to get in the  most unflattering, mega-comfy pajamas I have and chillax on my couch. I'll try running again tomorrow. Lord knows I need to, after all the carbs. GLUTEN FOREVER.

Red Carpet Recap: Emmy Awards 2014

It's the Emmy's y'all!!

I am seated on my couch in my pajamas with a bowl of popcorn and a Diet Coke and I am in my happy place.

Tonight's red carpet was full of gorgeous hair, giant jewels, luxurious fabric and plunging necklines. There weren't too many horrid decisions this evening, which makes it a little less fun for me, to be honest. :)

Let's just get right to it, shall we?

Matthew McConaughey's wife always nails it. Always. ALWAYS. Also, remember that time I vacationed with them?! I think this is just gorgeous on her. Although, it is not difficult for her to look gorgeous. I mean, really.

I don't know who this is but I like her dress very much.

Hi there, Blossom. This color is beautiful on you. You should wear it again one day when you are a Mother of the Groom. It would totally work!

Julie Bowen's hair looks beautiful. Not so sure about the dress. Also, not so sure why her photo was taken in the parking lot.

Kaley Cuoco looks like a Valentine.

Zooey Deschanel doesn't really look like herself here. Not sure what it is, but she just looks different. That being said, she looks pretty. But, I am a little underwhelmed. Nothing overly bad or good about this. "Meh."

She looks so, so pretty and her hair is like magic. Her hair and makeup people need a raise.
I can't stop looking at her hair.

Love that jeweled neckline!

Beautiful hair on Edie!

LOVE Giuliana's dress. Still getting used to her as blonde. But the dress = FAB.

Schnazzy jacket, Luke Dunphy!

Will someone come over and do my hair like this everyday? Okay, thanks.

HAYDEN! I have a few things to say.
1. She chose a beautiful dress as always.
2. She's quite pregnant!
3. Her boobs are out there. Like, really out there.
4. Does it make me a bad person that I kinda love that she has pregnant face?
5. She is stunning.

Welcome back, Katherine Heigl! Great hair. Great eye makeup. Would've liked this dress in another color. But all in all, it's a great look. And I'm happy to see her back on the red carpet!

Christina Hendricks looks beautiful! I feel like this is the most, um, contained she has ever been on the red carpet.

I think Felicity Huffman is darling and her hair and dress are simple and perfect. Also, her husband, William H. Macy, is the narrator on Curious George on PBS. So, I love him too. :)

She is so pretty. Love this skirt. Love the colors. Love her hair. Love it all.

I love this color on Allison! And her hair is gorgeous. So fun to see her win... she's a hoot.

I think this dress would be prettier if she smiled. That, and if it didn't look like upholstery.

The texture on this dress reminds me of some kind of sea creature. Not sure why. Maybe the Loch Ness Monster? I don't know. I'm really weird, y'all.

Great color on Mindy! (You need to watch her show. You really, really do.)

This dress was brought to you by the Letter V.

However, she totally wins in the color category. I love me a vibrant blue.

OLIVIA POPE, Y'ALL.
A few things:
1. I am ready for that show to come back.
2. Orange is not my favorite color.
3. She's wearing some sparkly biker shorts.
4. She had a baby 4 months ago.
5. SHE. IS. GORGEOUS.

Love seeing Kristin Wiig in white! Beautiful!

Not sure who this is, but I'm pretty sure I've seen this dress at Ann Taylor Loft.

I don't understand what is happening here.
No, really. What is going on.

Sigh.....

Adam Levine and his wife! Her dress is pretty. He is wearing sunglasses because he's too cool for school.

I adore Melissa McCarthy. This looks is a tiny bit Addams Family but I'll let it slide cause she's all kinds of adorable.

The giant rock on Debra Messing's hand makes up for the fact that someone took a knife to her dress.

Well isn't this just darling?!?! I love her dress!

I don't really know this guy's name but I do not like him because of what he did to Detective Olivia Benson.

This dress is FUN!

Well aren't they just precious. Also, I can not move past this photo without mentioning that THAT IS INIGO MONTOYA. You killed his father. Prepare to die.

I would look exactly like this if I were to wear that dress.
#Sarcasm #LoveHandles

Look at Amy being all glam! Fancy Pants McGee!

There is a lot going on here.

Again, with the plunging necklines. Ta-Tas everywhere!

This was really pretty when the camera zoomed in on it. And her earrings were amazing! I want. I need.

Gwen Stefani looks so tiny!

I feel like he didn't know what to do with his hands.

Her earrings. Her dress. Her hair. MAKE IT STOP SHE IS SO PRETTY.

Not my favorite.

She's quickly becoming one of my Red Carpet favorites. She makes fun, feminine choices. And also, she's going to be Peter Pan, so there's that.

It was a fun night! Seth Meyers did a great job. Not too many surprises as far as winners were concerned, but I was still entertained. And that Robin Williams tribute.... I'm just gonna go ahead and admit it. I cried.

Who was your favorite on the red carpet? What was your favorite moment in the show?

Thanks for reading! I had a blast as usual!

It's Time for a Walk Down Fashion Memory Lane....

I. AM. PUMPED.

TOMORROW IS THE EMMY AWARDS.

First of all, I'd like to say that the awards being on a Monday night are throwing me off of my game. I am used to the traditional Sunday night award show. But that is not the case this year. And I am going to put on my big girl panties and deal with it.

Secondly, the awards are being hosted by Mr. Seth Meyers this year.

As many of you have pointed out to us before, my husband kind of looks like Seth Meyers.

He does. He really does.

For those of you who are new to my blog, I recap the Red Carpet fashion of all the major award shows. Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe.

The Emmy's happen to be my personal favorite.

Anyways, as we prepare for tomorrow night's ceremony and blog, I thought this would be a good time to dig through my archives and revisit Red Carpet Recaps from past years. It's been a fun walk down memory lane.

I've linked them for you here!

Be sure to pop in tomorrow night for the 2014 recap! See you then!
