Coffee Talk

I'm seriously about to write an entire post about coffee. Brace yourself for the most interesting edition of "Jen the Newlywed" ever. Or go ahead and click your way into someone else's blog. You probably got here and were like "A whole post about coffee? Wow, Jen. I'm gonna go read Big Mama" or something like that.

Go ahead. I understand. Heck, I'll even branch out and say that I forgive you. Have a great day.

For those of you who are still here.... I give you.... the coffee blog.

My relationship with coffee has developed slowly over the last 15 years or so. I've never absolutely loved coffee, but never hated it.

My first consistent coffee drink was the Starbuck's Caramel Macchiato. This was my highschool coffee of choice when we would all go to the Starbucks on 1960 by the mall and sit on that little grassy knoll.... all 100 of us.... and watch the cars go by.

Occasionally in college I would go to Starbucks but Diet Coke has always been my best friend so if I needed caffeine, Diet Coke was always there. I enjoyed coffee, but only socially. Once every few months I would get a coffee craving and go get something warm and sweet from Starbucks but I have never been a daily coffee drinker.

A few months ago, I betrayed Diet Coke. I was forced to quit due to something horrible called a stomach ulcer. I went an entire month without Diet Coke, and now I have only 1 or 2 a week. However, during the time of no Diet Coke, I really needed caffeine at work. So, I started drinking coffee here at the office.

We have this neat little machine called a Senseo and I love it. It makes one really good frothy cup of coffee and I just love it.

I also will soemtimes get a coffee from McDonald's on the way to work in the mornings. I usually get a medium non-fat latte with sugar-free vanilla, which is a heck-of-a-lot cheaper than the Starbucks Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte which is exactly the same thing.

Also, I am known to frequent the coffee section at Valero. Yes, I drink gas station coffee. But it is REALLY good and only a $1.19. Can't beat that!

I guess I can officially say that I am a daily coffee drinker. Atleast on work days.

So what do you drink? Where do you get it from?

  1. Jen,

I just want you to know that I love your blog. I only recently added it to my RSS feed, and every single time I see that you have written a new post I get so excited. I love your sense of humor, your tone, and everything you talk about it.

You write about life just like it is. It makes me heart happy.

I also occassionaly get sidetracked by the couch on my way to the kitchen in the mornings.

    love,
    Jess

  3. I've never actually tasted coffee because the smell is so bad I can't imagine it tasting good. I am addicted to mountain dew. When I was pregnant I cut back to 1/week but when I hit the 2nd trimester I went back to pretty much 1/day. Jake has gone on a few mountain dew runs with me to gas stations. I'm pretty sure that is his favorite part of the day.

  4. LOVE this post! I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago, and I must say that it CRACKS me UP! I get a great laugh from your writing.
My favorite drink is, sadly, from Starbucks. Even though it's a "Christmas drink," I still have to get the Grande Peppermint Mocha with no whip. Side note, though: only when I have a gift card. Starbucks ain't cheap! :)

  5. I love reading too!!! I like the Starbucks non-fat marble mocha with whip. I had switched to regular coffee and a brownie (about the same calories as the mocha), but the artificial sweetener in my coffee was making me sick. I switched back to the mocha with no brownie. I have a little girl who is upset that she doesn't get her "baby piece and momma piece" of a brownie anymore though. :)

  6. Definitely a fan of the coffee. I'm a cheap-o, so I do the make at home kind. My current favorite is dunkin donuts hazlenut. Even better is the sweet roommate that makes it each morning!

  9. I actually love Chick-fil-A coffee. I used go to Starbucks on Fridays on my way to work but I got tired of it so now I go to Chick-fil-A and their coffee is good...although they don't have any fancy coffee. And even though its kinda silly, I always drink decaf cause my body goes bizerk with the caffine!
