January's Favorite Things

I think 2015 is going to be the year of appreciating the little things! Each month I'm going to highlight a few of my current favorite things.

For example:
1. Raindrops on roses
2. Whiskers on kittens
3. Bright copper kettles
4. Warm, woolen mittens
5. Silver white Winters that melt into Spring

These are a few of my favorite things!

Okay, that's all, bye now!

Thank you for indulging me for that little musical theater moment. For real now, y'all!

I thought we'd begin with the Keurig 2.0!

This was my Christmas gift from Grant. I am THRILLED. I had another Keurig for several years. Towards the end of our time together, that Keurig would make me a cup of coffee about 20% of the time I asked it to. It got temperamental and moody as time went on. It was time to lay him to rest. Now I have the 2.0! One of the perks of a Keurig is that you can make one cup of coffee at a time, which is great for me since I am the only person in our house that drinks coffee. However, every once in awhile we will host a party or guests and I need a whole pot. The Keurig 2.0 has another setting that makes a whole pot! Now I don't have to pull out the old Mr. Coffee every time we have a party! And how cute is that mug my sister-in-law got me for Christmas?!

Next, we take a little journey to my bathroom counter where we find my new makeup carousel!

Look,  I know this thing ain't the prettiest, but it definitely makes my bathroom counter and drawers a bit more functional. I found this on Zulily awhile back and it has helped me immensely. I know I've seen them at beauty stores and The Container Store, etc., so I'm sure you can find something like it at a place like that.

A few months ago, I got home from running some errands and on my porch I found a gift bag full of goodies from Anthropologie. The gift bag was full of little happies and sweet things from a group of girlfriends who decided to brighten my day. I was overwhelmed with tears (I was kinda in a funk right around then) and also such joy... because candles and soaps and notebooks actually bring happiness to my spirit.

There were 3 little notebooks in this gift bag and I LOVE them.

It's nice and flat, and there are nice lines and pretty things. I write my prayers here every morning and it just makes me happy.

Be amazed by my fancy pen.

Next? My Yurbuds earphones

I found these at Academy a few months ago and now I can't run without them. I'm not sure what makes them specifically for Women as the website states, but I'm down with them. They are comfortable and they stay in my ears. Hooray!

It's been pretty cold here (as far as Houston is concerned) this month. My house is always cold, and my mother-in-law gave me this awesome North Face jacket for Christmas! I am pretty much living in it 24/7.

It's really warm and fuzzy. In some lights it is grey, it some lights it looks almost purple. It's so fuzzy, there are times I look down and feel like I am wrapped in a Muppet.

And really, what more could you ask for?

Lastly, I recently got a new Cast Iron skillet and I love it! I've always been afraid of Cast Iron Skillets because I am not a fan of owning things that can only be hand washed. I have a dishwasher and I intend to use it. However, I made this oven-fried chicken last night and I used my new cast iron skillet and I am a big fan!

I used to make something like this and the bottom of the chicken was always soggy from the pan. These were crispy all the way around. Amazing. For the recipe, click here

That's all folks, have a Happy Friday and a great weekend! (Also, just wanted to let y'all know that I am absolutely doing a Red Carpet Recap for the Golden Globes on Sunday, it just may be up a little late because I am having dinner with some girlfriends and we are eating Italian food and I am going to take my time with that.

  1. I like that make-up caddy a lot! I'm using this pitiful little set of drawers for my make-up, and I'm pretty sure it's actually intended for pencils and pens on a fourth-grader's desk. Thanks for sharing!
